You can’t not love Bernini.  The marble is real.  And neither of these pictures are even CLOSE to them in person… They’re kind of orgasmically beautiful in person O.O”

(Also, to keep the language constant, it’s Hades and Persephone (Greek), or Pluto and Proserpina (Latin, what I think was used on the work).) 

I swear I walked around this piece like a goldfish in a bowl when I was in the Borghese. Every angle is perfect.

OMG the detail.

I am always amazed by this sculpture. Some artists call Bernini’s craftsmanship as “raping the marble”.
